First Training Session

Jeff and I had our first training session with Traci and Riley on Friday. I will admit, I was TERRIFIED to go. I haven't worked out hard since my volleyball days clear back in highschool..which was a long time ago. But, it was so awesome. Traci helped me and Riley was assigned to Jeff. I had so much fun. Traci just got my baselines on where I need to be starting each exercise and showed me how to use everything. We worked out for an hour, but it really did not feel like more than 30 minutes. I was really sore yesterday from the weight lifting, but today I am not too bad. Jeff cleaned out the hot tub last night so that we can soak in it after our workouts. He is such a good hubby. Riley will be our permanent trainer from now on. Jeff really liked working with him, so I am excited that he is assigned to us. Our next scheduled training session is on Tuesday. I am actually looking forward to it.

I am also looking forward to the nutrition class on Friday. We should get our individual customized meal plans so that we can start to learn what she should be eating, etc etc. I can't wait to get that and to learn more about nutrition, food, etc. These classes should teach us some great fundamentals that will stay with us throughout the rest of our lives.

Life here at the Winters home is blissful. :-)

The Start of a Good Thing!

After a few technical difficulties, the blog is up and running!

Friday began the official start for the 100 day heart challenge. What an eye opening event!! I can obviously look at myself and see that I am overweight, but to have the numbers staring at you in the face is quite a different feeling. I LOVED the presentations given by Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Carter. The numbers do not lie. Heart disease kills more people than any other type of disease. I am not going to be one of those statistics. My cute hubby and I are committed to change our lives...and if we can do that and win the contest....AWESOME!! But even if we don't win the contest but change our lives, that is the kind of win that matters most.

To all my family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who may be following me on this blog...I NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!! Words of encouragement, compliments, and prayers on my behalf are always accepted. Treats of fruits, vegetables, and friendly smiles are encouraged but chocolate and other type of treats will be kindly discarded. My desk at work will no longer be the home for all of the goodies that people try to give away. This is not only a journey for me and Jeff, but for all of those that have to spend countless hours with me listening to my story and my personal battle for a better, healthier life.

So, Jeff, Aspen, family, friends, and fellow 100 day heart challenge participants, LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN!
